Kungs, birthname Valentin Brunel, is a fresh-faced producer from the south of France. He started his musical career with a djembe gifted by his parents at the age of five, playing along to various rock ‘n’ roll classics alongside his father. Having experimented with some official, as well as unofficial remixes, his breakthrough came in 2016 with the unavoidable, global hit This Girl – a remake of a smooth, underground funk track from Australian trio Cookin’ On 3 Burners – where the producer took the soulful, high vocals of the original and injected a deep house, sunshine-filled vibe. The song took the number one spot in 45 countries and has granting him more than 1 billion plays.
But make no mistake, Kungs is anything but a one-trick pony. His talent for melodic house has gained him support from some of biggest names, and despite him being only 21 years old he has already performed at some of the world’s greatest events like Coachella, Tomorrowland, ULTRA Miami, Ministry of Sound, Boots and many others. He has also had time to win several awards, such as the Best Electro Album Of The Year at The Victories of Music – a French prize comparable to the Grammys – as well as an NRJ Awards for DJ of The Year and Best French DJ, beating David Guetta and DJ Snake to the accolade. With his long-awaited new singles – infectious sunshine jam Be Right Here (feat. Stargate, GOLDN) and dark, funky, glittery track Disco Night (feat. Throttle) – Kungs puts his truly unique talent on display.
