This Norwegian music phenomenon won the BBC Sound of 2018 and BBC 1’s Annie Mac called Sigrid ”literally the perfect pop star”. Influenced by Lorde, Robyn and Joni Mitchell, Sigrid has become known for catchy, clever, literate and sometimes edgy pop songs.
In an interview with The Guardian, she said: ”I am just a lover of pop music. I love pop. I love big choruses. Dramatic choruses: they’re the best thing in the world. And I do this because I love making music and performing the songs.” You can hear all of this and more in the music she displays on this year’s remarkable debut album Sucker Punch, full of favorites such as Strangers, Don’t Kill My Vibe, Dynamite and Don’t Feel Like Crying. In a four-star review, NME wrote that Sucker Punch ”is the story of a young adult whose tales of friendship, love and more aren’t just relatable because they’re supposed to be – they simply are.”
